Description

Savor the sweetness of large, succulent Red King Crab Legs ?: With streaks of red across their milky, white meat, Every bite of these wild-caught crabs is enhanced with freshness guaranteed. ❄️?

Physical Attributes

The name Red King Crab is more for the color of the crab once cooked rather than the color of the crab while alive.

They have five pairs of legs, and the right claw is usually more significant than the left.

Males grow larger than females, and their sex is determined by examining their abdomens. Male red king crabs have a narrow abdominal flap, whereas female red king crabs have a wide abdominal flap covering most of the abdomen s underside.

Juvenile crabs usually molt several times yearly, while adult males often skip a molt and keep the same carapace for 2 to 3 years.  Females need to molt to mate. Red King Crab thrive in temperatures in the 4-6C (39.2-42.8F) range.

The Red King Crab has earned its spot on the top of the marine food chain as it crawls along the seafloor, feasting on starfish, sea cucumbers, mollusks, and fish. These crabs have no real natural predators in the Barents Sea.

Female crabs will lay between 45,000 and 500,000 eggs each year—the female clutches her eggs under her wide tail flap for approximately one year before hatching. Once the embryos begin to hatch, they will swim as larvae. King crabs spend two to three months in larval stages, where they are very vulnerable to being swept away by the current or tide. The ones that survive feed off the animal and plant plankton for the next several months.

King Crab Legs – A True Delicacy

Our King Crab Legs are a luxurious treat, known for their sweet, succulent meat and impressive size. These premium crab legs are prepared with care and contain no added salt. However, their saltiness can vary slightly depending on their natural environment and the preparation process.

About the Saltiness:
King Crab Legs naturally retain some ocean water, which enhances their authentic flavor. While this saltiness makes them so delicious, it can occasionally be more pronounced than expected. Here s what you need to know:

  • Natural Salinity: The crab s habitat contributes to its unique taste, which includes a touch of natural salinity.

    • Preparation Matters: If not rinsed before cooking, residual ocean water on the crab legs can make the steaming or boiling liquid and the meat taste saltier.

      Tips for Perfect Preparation:
To ensure the ideal flavor for your palate, follow these simple steps:

      1. Rinse Before Cooking: Gently rinse the crab legs under cold, fresh water to remove residual salt from the surface. This is especially helpful for the knuckle meat, which tends to retain more natural brine.

      2. Quick Reheat: King Crab Legs are fully cooked and only need reheating. Steam or boil them for 5–7 minutes to maintain their delicate, sweet flavor.

      3. Serve with Fresh Accompaniments: Pair with melted butter, fresh lemon, or a light dipping sauce to balance the natural saltiness and enhance the overall taste.
